Mom Profile: Alicia Rowe

1. What is one of the epic transformation moments of your life?

Definitely when my daughter was born. The connection I felt with her and my husband was overwhelming and so real.

2. How many kids do you have?

I have one daughter- Eloise. She's two! 

3. What's your favorite thing to do with your kids?

I love carving out chunks of time that are completely Eloise directed. Like going for a walk or going to the park and just following her. Letting her explore and be excited about little things she discovers. I love how brave and uninhibited she is- she's so free. 

4. How do you promote/model exercise and healthy living in your daily life with your kids?

Over the past couple of years I ended a very long, often unhealthy relationship with the scale! And I don't do workouts that I don't genuinely enjoy anymore. I still struggle with normal feelings of inadequacy, like lots of people do, but I really want to set a good example for my daughter. I want her to see that women accept and love themselves...that women are active for many reasons and that our bodies are worthy of love and kindness. 

5. What do you do when you’re not at BurnCycle?

I work with adults with developmental disabilities and I'm a hospice volunteer! I love hiking. I also love planning and going on trips! I'm super great at avoiding housework and I play a lot of hide and seek. I've also seen Frozen 50,000 times

6. What is your personal mantra?

It's always changing but it's usually something I hear from one of the amazing instructors at BurnCycle. Lately I've been pretty focused on radical acceptance and believing that I AM ENOUGH. 

7. What is your guilty pleasure?

Guilt? Ain't nobody got time for that!
8. Favorite move on the bike?

Sprints! Especially when everyone is super in sync...the energy is so good. 

9. Place you would most like to visit?

Pretty obsessed with Savannah, GA right now.

10. Favorite song to ride to?

Steph playlists forever and ever. 

11. What do you like to ride in?

Whatever is clean, I don't have high standards at all!

12. What do you eat before you ride?

Whatever I manage to toss in my bag that day! Love bananas and quest bars!

13. What do you love about BurnCycle?

Everything! I love that I can close my eyes and just be completely in the moment... Smiling and sweating for 45 min is shockingly therapeutic. I also love chatting with people before class (I crave connection always). I've met so many awesome, supportive folks (Kati Waters- hey girl!)


I took my first class during a weird period of self doubt. I realize now that I'm probably always going to be adjusting to motherhood in one way or another, but at the time I just felt like I was drowning. I knew my life was so full and I felt so fortunate for everything in it but I couldn't shake the feeling that I wasn't doing enough or doing the right thing. Anyway, I saw a random Instagram post about BurnCycle and impulsively signed up. About half way through that first class, Steph turned off all the lights. Then she said "what if I told you that every decision you ever made in your life was the right decision because it lead you to where you are today". And she challenged us to just be present. I cried. Immediately. It was so simple and so profound and it was exactly what I needed. I'm so long winded (sorry!) but this is the truth- Steph absolutely helped me to see things differently and it has made a profound difference in my life. It helped me turn that negative page that I was stuck on and I am so grateful. So... that's what I love about Burncycle. It changed my life!
